Teeth
| Baby
tooth is not loose, and the permanent tooth is coming in behind
it. |
 |
Lingual
eruption or permanent teeth erupting behind baby teeth results from
abnormal patterns of root resorption. Sometimes, there is transitional
crowding from the primary to permanent dentition.
If you notice this, don't worry. Encourage your child to "wiggle"
the baby teeth, bite on apples, etc. If a week goes by, and the
baby teeth are still there or they are not getting looser, please
call us to schedule an appointment. |

tooth was knocked out. |
 |
If
your child's baby tooth got knocked out, DO NOT TRY TO REIMPLANT!
Call our office for an emergency appointment. We will do our best
to accommodate you as soon as possible. |
| Baby
tooth is fractured. |
 |
If
you can find the broken piece, place it in water and call our office
immediately for an emergency appointment. We will do our best to
accommodate you as soon as possible. |
| Baby
tooth is turning dark. |
 |
A
baby tooth turning dark is a sign of previous trauma. No treatment
is indicated unless there are signs of infection. |

Permanent Teeth
| Permanent
tooth was knocked out. |
|
Please
read these instructions carefully. This may not happen to your
child, but it could to someone else.
1.
Find the tooth.
2. Grab it by the crown, NOT by the root.
3. Rinse it under water for 10 seconds, but DO NOT SCRUB.
4. Attempt to reimplant into the socket as soon as possible and
have the child bite down. The success rate of reimplantation decreases
dramatically in just minutes.
5. Call Dr. Libby immediately or go to her office as soon as possible.
If reimplantation is not possible, store the avulsed tooth in
milk or underneath the patient's tooth. |

 |
Try
to find the fractured piece, as we may be able to bond it back to
the tooth, and call our office for assistance.
|
 |
If
there is blood coming directly from the tooth, the patient needs
to be seen as soon as possible. Yes, even if it is Saturday night. |
